Booster Set Selections

To correctly select a booster set you must first determine the volume of water required and the pressure the set must produce.

The volume of water required is known as the flow rate. This depends on the amount and type of use (schools, homes, offices and/or unit type, baths, showers etc) and number of users. The theoretical requirement is the total volume of water required by all users. The real requirement is often lower as it is unlikely that there will be simultaneous use from all users.

Next the pressure required again depends on the type of user. Also the height of the building, suction conditions and pipe resistance must be taken into consideration.

With the flow rate and pressure it is then possible to identify the required set. Single pump systems are usually only selected on systems that do not have a critical demand. On two pump sets the pumps act as a back-up for one another.
